When developing on land with trees situated nearby, your local authority will require a BS 5837 tree survey and report to be carried out. The BS 5837 tree survey (British Standard for trees in relation to construction updated in 2012) includes design, construction and demolition and is in place to protect our wildlife and also to ensure new builds are not compromised by the nearby trees.
